As a community, we need to work together to stop it. At my high school, I was required to complete a certain number of community service hours, both for a requirement to graduate and for the National Honor Society. While doing community service, I learned not only how to have empathy for others and to learn how to put others’ needs before my own, but I also learned how to work together with others to make a change. This is a quality that everybody should have the opportunity to learn at some point in their life.
